Electricity and Magnetism

Fall 2003

Physics 330

A micrcscopeic seesaw allows one to measure the casimir force. Under each of the two ends of the seesaw is a capacitor plate. When a metallized sphere is brought close to one end, the seesaw rotates slightly. As a consequence, the relative capacitance at each end of the seesaw changes, and can readily be measured. An excellent set of math tables:

Every Physicist needs a set of math tables: This Book has lots of information that you will use your entire life CRC Math Handbook

January 12, 2002

It would be a good idea to commit to memory the integral from of Maxwell’s Equations that you have learned in your pervious E+M cource.

There maybe a quiz about them this Friday, January 17.

Reading Assignment

We will be using the Book “Electromagnetism”  by Pollack and Stump

Please read chapter 1 for the first class meeting on Monday Jan. 13th.
