Electricity and
Magnetism Fall 2003 Physics 330 |

A micrcscopeic seesaw allows one to measure the casimir force. Under each of the two ends of the seesaw is a capacitor plate. When a metallized sphere is brought close to one end, the seesaw rotates slightly. As a consequence, the relative capacitance at each end of the seesaw changes, and can readily be measured. Here is the grade distribution for Exam 1.
If your grade was 50 points or less, I would suggest that you drop the class, unless
you are planning to work a lot harder than you presently are.:
An excellent set of math tables:
Every Physicist needs a set of math tables: This Book has lots of information that you will use your entire life CRC Math Handbook

It would be a good idea to commit to memory the integral from of Maxwell’s Equations that you have learned in your pervious E+M cource.
There maybe a quiz about them this Friday, January 17.
Reading Assignment
We will be using the Book “Electromagnetism” by Pollack and Stump
Please read chapter 1 for the first class meeting on Monday Jan. 13th.
